Ava "Big Chunky" Balderas is living up to her nickname. Today was her 6 month birthday, and she had her doctors exam. She weighs 19 lbs 10 oz and is 27 5/8 inches. She is off the chart in weight and 95th percentile in height! She just started eating yesterday. Her first food was avocado. I am to post the video of her eating, she can't tell if she likes it but she definately wants more!
Tucker "Tlacuache" (Tah-qwa-chay) Balderas is insisting on being called that, which means possum in Spanish. This nickname was lovingly given to him by an uncle of Jimmy's because it sounds like Tucker. He has adopted it whole heartedly and tells people that this is his name. He even wanted me to tell his school that his name was Tlacuache. He has such a personality! He started school last week and loves it! It is weird to not have him with me all the time, but good for all of us.
Jimmy is studying for his big exam. He will be taking the California Electrical Exam sometime in May so he will finally be a certified journeyman electrician. He will complete his four year apprenticeship in May. He has been in school the entire time we have been married so it will be nice to have him home every night instead of going to school two nights a week. Jimmy is now the head usher at church. He and another guy switch off every other week overseeing the ushering team. Our church has more than doubled in size since we started going over 2 years ago. It is so exciting to see the word of God in action. People are changing their lives.
Not much going on with me. My department's budget has been cut, along with the entire hospital, so I am only working about four days a month. I enjoy it, but I also enjoy being with my kids. So I am good with whatever God has planned for me. I am the administrative person for Jimmy's ushering team, so I email and text people schedules, reminders, etc. which works out nicely since it is hard for me to leave the kids for two services on Sunday to serve at a specific service.
We miss you all so much and hope this gives you a glimpse into our lives. Wish you were here, God bless!
